Trump Names Tom Barrack Special Envoy to Syria and Iraq

WASHINGTON, June 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Tom Barrack, the U.S. ambassador to Türkiye, will also serve as special presidential envoy to Syria and Iraq.
Trump said Washington was deepening its strategic engagement with Syria and Iraq.
“Our relationship with them continues to grow,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Barrack will remain ambassador to Türkiye and serve with the backing of the U.S. State Department, Trump said.
Trump praised Barrack’s performance and thanked him for his continued willingness to serve.
Barrack was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to Türkiye in 2025.
