Traditional Handicrafts Draw Strong Visitor Interest at King Abdulaziz Camel Festival

Riyadh, December 10, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Traditional handicrafts displayed on the sidelines of the 10th King Abdulaziz Camel Festival attracted significant interest from attendees, offering visitors an opportunity to observe elements of the Kingdom’s cultural heritage.

Camel-related items and other traditional tools were among the products presented by artisans. According to one exhibitor, the crafts are made from natural materials such as camel hair and sheep wool, which are spun and dyed using natural pigments. She noted that producing some items requires considerable time and skill, and expressed concern that the craft may decline as fewer people learn the techniques. She also acknowledged ongoing government support for preserving national heritage.

Efforts to safeguard traditional crafts have recently expanded, highlighted by the Cabinet’s decision to designate 2025 as the Year of Handicrafts, an initiative aimed at recognizing the work of Saudi artisans and emphasizing the cultural value of traditional craftsmanship.
