Thunderstorms and flash floods forecast in parts of Saudi Arabia
RIYADH, September 28, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Moderate to heavy thunderstorms could cause flash floods in parts of Saudi Arabia’s Jazan, Aseer, Al-Baha and Makkah regions on Monday, the National Center for Meteorology said in a forecast carried by SPA.
The storms may bring hail and gusty winds that stir up dust. Light to moderate rain is also possible in parts of Madinah Region.
Thunderclouds may form over southern parts of Eastern Region, while fog is possible in some of the regions covered by the forecast. Gusty, dust-stirring winds are expected in parts of Northern Borders, Al-Jouf and Tabuk.
Across the Red Sea, the forecast gives wind speeds of 20–40 km/h and 10–50 km/h, with waves ranging from half a metre to more than two metres and conditions from calm to choppy. In the Arabian Gulf, winds are forecast at 10–25 km/h, with waves from half a metre to one metre and calm seas.
