Makkah, February 23, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Third Saudi Expansion of the Grand Mosque continues to support worshippers and operations during peak periods, the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques said.

The expansion covers about 1,214,000 square metres and has a cooling capacity of 90,000 tons. Facilities include more than 25,000 carpets, 17,000 Zamzam water dispensers, 11,436 restrooms and ablution areas and 1,300 speakers.

It also includes 458 drinking fountains, 428 escalators, 28 elevators, 80 doors and 120 prayer areas, supporting movement across the ground, first, second, mezzanine and rooftop levels.

Field teams operate around the clock to maintain readiness of facilities and services and support comfort and safety for visitors, the authority said.

The authority said the service system integrates technical, engineering and human resources and forms part of ongoing efforts to develop services and improve the visitor experience at the Two Holy Mosques.
