The US and Iran have diverging statements on their agreement.

RIYADH, June 15 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The United States and Iran have reached an agreement, but their public statements show differences over key terms before the full text is released, CNN reported.

The differing accounts cover the Strait of Hormuz, the Lebanon conflict and frozen Iranian funds.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen after the expected signing of the agreement on Friday and would ultimately become “permanently toll free.”

A U.S. official indicated that the U.S. military had received a directive to lift the blockade of Iranian ports on Friday after the memorandum of understanding is signed.

Iran has presented a different timeline, with Iranian state media reporting that the draft agreement includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days under Iranian arrangements.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that both sides had declared the immediate and permanent end of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi also stated that the agreement includes a permanent and immediate end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.

Trump did not mention Lebanon in his Sunday remarks, while Israel has not commented on the agreement.

Gharibabadi also linked the next phase of talks to the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian funds.

A U.S. official rejected that claim, describing the agreement as a “pay for performance” deal and stating that no frozen funds would be released without Iran implementing its commitments.
