Sheikh Hamdan Attends Launch of Dubai Digital Twin Platform

DUBAI, July 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the launch of the Dubai Digital Twin Platform, a major digital planning project designed to strengthen the emirate’s smart city capabilities.
The launch took place during the “Partners in Building the Digital Twin” workshop organized by Dubai Municipality, in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The platform creates a virtual model of Dubai using data on facilities, landmarks, infrastructure, master plans, buildings and residential units.
Sheikh Hamdan said the project reflects Dubai’s efforts to use advanced technologies, data integration and artificial intelligence to improve planning efficiency, decision-making and quality of life.
The platform will support applications in urban planning, infrastructure and asset management, rainfall simulation and future scenario planning.
Dubai Municipality said the third phase of the project produced 3D models of more than 195,000 buildings across the emirate.
The project also converted more than 280,000 infrastructure assets and more than 330,000 public facilities and assets into 3D models.
It now includes more than 1,500 geospatial data layers and more than 100 two- and three-dimensional applications supporting several sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan also witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding between Dubai Municipality, Al-Futtaim Group and Huawei to support the next phase of Dubai’s Digital Twin ecosystem.
The partnerships aim to expand the use of digital twin technologies across urban planning, infrastructure, operations, asset management and data-driven decision-making.
