Saudi Wildlife Center Extends Deadline to Regularize Unlicensed Wildlife Possession

RIYADH, May 31 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Wildlife extended the third phase of an initiative to regularize unlicensed wildlife possession by individuals until June 30, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The previous deadline was the end of May.

The center said the extension followed requests from beneficiaries seeking additional time to document ownership.

The initiative is part of efforts to regulate wildlife possession and ensure compliance with the Environmental Law and its executive regulations covering the housing, breeding and trade of wildlife.

The third phase targets individuals who possess or handle wildlife on a large scale.

Earlier phases focused on falcons, private wildlife collections, breeding and housing centers, and businesses involved in the sale of wildlife products and derivatives.

The center said the initiative aims to regulate wildlife ownership, document legal possession, preserve owners’ rights and improve housing and care standards in line with environmental and health requirements.

It also seeks to reduce unauthorized practices that could affect natural habitats or threaten wildlife species.
