Saudi Water Authority to Hold First Water Regulation Forum in Riyadh on November 1

RIYADH, August 30 — The Saudi Water Authority (SWA) will hold the inaugural Water Regulation Forum in Riyadh on November 1, 2026, bringing regulators and policymakers together to discuss water-sector governance, financing and service performance. The event is being organised in strategic partnership with the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA).
The agenda includes managing water scarcity, regulatory compliance and utility performance, alongside private-sector partnerships and financing. Water reuse and regulatory integration will also feature in discussions drawing on different countries’ experiences. The forum will examine regulatory approaches across water resources, services, technologies and investment models.
SWA said the announced participation includes 28 speakers from 24 countries, four international organisations and 25 government entities that are counterparts to the authority, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Participants will include water regulators, policymakers, experts and sector leaders.
Established as an annual platform, the forum is intended to support exchanges between regulatory authorities on governance and the development of regulatory frameworks. IDRA confirms that the inaugural gathering will be a one-day event, distinct from the five-day congress taking place alongside it.
The IDRA World Congress 2026 will run from November 1 to 5 at the King Faisal Convention Center, InterContinental Riyadh. According to SPA, the congress will be held under the patronage of Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley. The forum’s November 1 date coincides with the opening day of the congress.
