Saudi Shura Council Urges Airspace Capacity Expansion, Digital Government Measures

RIYADH, July 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council called on the General Authority of Civil Aviation to accelerate work on expanding the Kingdom’s airspace capacity as air traffic continues to grow.
The council said the project should help keep pace with the rapid rise in aviation activity and reduce air congestion.
It also urged the authority to expand the use of virtual control towers at small and remote airports with limited traffic, and to speed up capacity development at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
In a separate decision, the council called on the Digital Government Authority to address infrastructure challenges linked to the responsible use of artificial intelligence agents in government services.
The council also asked the authority to study the creation of a national registry for government digital assets and to develop an index measuring the economic impact of government digital returns.
During the session, the council reviewed several annual reports and issued recommendations covering public health, real estate indicators, local content, culture, mental health, sports, Hajj and Umrah services, exports and environmental compliance.
