Saudi, Russian Foreign Ministers Mark 100 Years of Ties in Moscow Talks
MOSCOW, September 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed efforts to reduce regional tensions and protect international shipping during talks in Moscow.
The two ministers stressed the importance of diplomacy in addressing regional and international challenges, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in Yemen. They also emphasized the need to ensure security and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab.
The talks covered bilateral relations and opportunities to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Prince Faisal said Saudi-Russian cooperation had helped stabilize global energy markets and balance the interests of producers and consumers while supporting global economic growth.
The visit coincides with the centenary of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia. Lavrov said ties continued to develop across trade, investment, culture and humanitarian cooperation, and expressed Russia’s willingness to help reduce regional tensions.
The ministers also discussed closer coordination in international forums, stronger multilateral cooperation and reforms to make the international system more effective in responding to global challenges.
