Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish Ministers Discuss Launch of Joint Defence Pact
NEW YORK, September 25, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye met in New York on Thursday to discuss establishing the secretariat, committees and working groups of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement before it becomes operational, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. They also discussed preparations for an urgent meeting of the three countries’ military chiefs to examine measures to support Saudi Arabia under the agreement.
The ministers condemned attacks targeting Makkah and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia. They affirmed the Kingdom’s right to defend its security in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Their talks also covered regional tensions, maritime security and freedom of navigation. No date for the military chiefs’ meeting or specific measures was announced.
