Saudi Mathematics Team Wins Six Medals at Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad

RIYADH, June 20 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia’s mathematics team won six international medals at the 30th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, held in Romania from June 15 to 20, the Saudi Press Agency reported.


More than 130 students representing 23 countries took part in the competition.


The Saudi team won one gold medal, two silver medals and three bronze medals.


Hussein Abdullah Al-Omran, from the General Directorate of Education in the Eastern Region, won the gold medal.


Fares Mohammed Al-Kunhal, from the General Directorate of Education in Riyadh Region, and Anwar Hossam Ghunaim, from the General Directorate of Education in Tabuk Region, won the silver medals.


The bronze medals were awarded to Jawad Mohammed Al-Nasser, from the General Directorate of Education in Al-Ahsa Governorate; Muammal Siraj Al-Saihati, from the General Directorate of Education in the Eastern Region; and Mohsen Maher Khan, from the General Directorate of Education in Jeddah Governorate.


The latest result raised Saudi Arabia’s total medal count at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad to 75 international medals since the Kingdom began participating in the competition. The total includes 12 gold medals, 28 silver medals and 35 bronze medals.


Saudi Arabia participated through the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, Mawhiba, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.


The achievement followed an intensive scientific qualification program under Mawhiba’s International Olympiad Program, which included specialized training, preparatory camps and advanced scientific tests.


The Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad is an annual international competition for talented mathematics students under the age of 15.6 years. Participants compete in solving advanced mathematical problems requiring logical reasoning, analysis and mathematical creativity.


Saudi Arabia took part in the Olympiad for the 14th time this year.
