Saudi-Led Coalition Says Houthi Drone Targeted Madinah Power Station

RIYADH, Oct 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said an investigation found that a drone attack targeting the Taibah electricity distribution station in Madinah on September 29 was planned and carried out by Yemen’s Houthis, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Malki said the attack took place at 5:11 a.m. on Tuesday and that evidence gathered by the competent authorities, including an after-action review and wreckage from the drone used, confirmed Houthi involvement.
The attack took one power transformer out of service but did not affect the wider electricity network, according to the coalition.
Al-Malki said the targeted facility provides electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.
The coalition described the attack as part of what it said were continued Houthi attempts to target sites in Makkah and Madinah.
The coalition said it would continue measures aimed at deterring further attacks and protecting the Two Holy Mosques and pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah.
