ASHEVILLE, September 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed Aljadaan addressed global economic resilience, long-term growth and sovereign debt risks during the second Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting under the US G20 Presidency.
The meeting was held in Asheville, North Carolina, from August 31 to September 1. It brought together officials from G20 members and invited countries, along with leaders of international financial institutions.
Aljadaan said the global economy had remained resilient but had become more vulnerable. He called for alternative production sources, adequate inventories and infrastructure with spare capacity to help economies respond to shocks.
During a session on growth, he said countries should identify the main barriers limiting their economies at each stage of development and adjust their policies accordingly.
Aljadaan also said external surpluses and deficits reflected different economic conditions and did not automatically constitute imbalances. He said governments should examine domestic financial conditions and structural factors alongside trade flows.
In a session on sovereign debt, Aljadaan said the international system needed to respond more effectively to crises in fragile countries and reduce borrowing that did not deliver sustainable economic or development benefits. He also called for stronger national capacity to assess financing needs and manage debt sustainability.
Aljadaan joined finance ministers, central bank governors and private-sector figures for a closed discussion on artificial intelligence and its role in innovation, productivity and economic growth.
He also held bilateral meetings with officials from participating countries and international financial institutions to discuss global economic trends, financial issues and cooperation.
