Saudi falcon auction opens racing events to birds sold through 2026 sale

RIYADH, July 28, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Falcons sold through the 2026 International Falcon Breeders Auction will be eligible to compete in designated races offering prizes of up to SAR50 million, under a new measure aimed at attracting more breeders, investors and buyers.
All races for young falcons involving Saudi and international participants will be allocated to birds purchased through the auction, linking sales directly to future competition opportunities.
Once ownership has been transferred, falcons will be permitted to enter eligible races under the relevant regulations. The competitions are organised or co-organised by the National Center for Falcons.
The measure adds competitive performance to the factors buyers may consider alongside bloodline, breeding quality and price. It is also expected to increase demand for falcons suited to lure racing and attract buyers seeking both quality and competitive potential.
The auction enters 2026 after recording sales of SAR13 million last year, when 1,103 falcons were sold and 67 breeding farms participated.
The initiative forms part of a broader programme connecting falcon sales with competitive events. The centre’s commercial events include the International Falcon Breeders Auction, the National Center for Falcons Auction and the Saudi International Falcons and Hunting Exhibition.
It also organises falcon racing through the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival, the National Center for Falcons Cup, lure races and competitions held across Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
