Saudi defence minister inaugurates World Defense Show in Riyadh, launches new SAMI units

Riyadh, February 9, 2026 (SABN) – Saudi Arabia’s defence minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on Sunday inaugurated the third edition of the World Defense Show in Riyadh under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, as the kingdom seeks to deepen international defence cooperation and expand domestic military manufacturing.
The show, organised by the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), runs until February 12.
At Saudi Arabian Military Industries’ (SAMI) pavilion, Prince Khalid launched SAMI Land Company, SAMI Autonomous Company, the SAMI Land Industrial Complex and the HEET Program, and introduced the group’s Local Content Program, “RUKN”, described as its flagship supply-chain initiative.

Prince Khalid and his South Korean counterpart also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi General Authority for Defense Development and South Korea’s Agency for Defense Development focused on defence research, development and innovation in advanced military technologies and systems.
The defence minister also signed three defence cooperation agreements with Slovakia, Malaysia and Somalia.
