DAMMAM, December 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha met on Monday with investors and business leaders in the Eastern Region to discuss expanding private sector partnerships and supporting growth in technology investments.

The meeting focused on opportunities offered by the region in the digital economy and artificial intelligence, with discussions covering advanced computing, the internet of things, and technologies linked to the industrial and energy sectors.

Participants reviewed the Eastern Region’s competitive advantages, including its digital infrastructure, data centre capacity, geographic location supporting global supply chains, and its integrated industrial and energy ecosystems, positioning the area as a hub for technology investment.

Discussions also addressed ways to support startups, scale their operations, and build partnerships between investors, business leaders and government entities to strengthen the competitiveness of technology companies at local and international levels.

Alswaha outlined efforts to support the digital economy ecosystem through regulatory development, digital enablers, skills and capacity-building programmes, and initiatives aimed at stimulating investment in technological innovation.

The minister said the Eastern Region plays a key role in driving the Kingdom’s digital economy growth, citing its investment environment and the integration of energy, industrial and technology sectors, and noted that cooperation with the private sector is central to achieving Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
