Saudi Civil Defense Warns of Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Risk Across Kingdom Through Saturday

RIYADH, Oct 5 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the public on Monday to exercise caution and remain in safe locations as rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across most regions of the Kingdom through Saturday.

The directorate warned people to stay away from valleys and other areas where floodwaters and torrents could accumulate and advised against swimming in such locations.

It also called on the public to follow safety instructions and official updates issued through media outlets and social media platforms.

The National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across Makkah Region, with conditions potentially leading to flash floods and hail.

The rainfall could also be accompanied by downdrafts capable of stirring dust and sand, according to the NCM.

Similar conditions are forecast for Jazan, Aseer and Al-Baha, where moderate to heavy rain could bring flash flooding and hail alongside dust-raising winds.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected across Madinah, Hail, Tabuk, Al-Jouf and Northern Borders regions.
