Saudi Civil Defense Warns of Flash Flood Risk Through Saturday
RIYADH, September 14 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Civil Defense warned of possible flash floods as thunderstorms are forecast to continue from Tuesday through Saturday, with moderate to heavy rain expected in Makkah, Madinah, Jazan, Aseer and Al-Baha regions.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense urged people to remain in safe places, avoid valleys and areas prone to flash floods, and refrain from swimming in them. It also called on the public to follow instructions issued through media outlets and social media platforms.
In Makkah Region, the forecast covers Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, Al-Lith, Al-Qunfudhah, Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat.
Rainfall in the five regions could bring flash floods, hail and strong downdrafts that raise dust and sand, the directorate said.
Najran Region is expected to receive light to moderate rain.
