RIYADH, June 21 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense urged the installation of smoke detectors in residential and commercial buildings as a measure to enhance public safety and reduce fire risks, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The directorate said smoke detectors help protect lives and property through early detection.
It said the devices can limit fire damage by emitting high-decibel alerts that can awaken sleeping occupants, warn of accumulating smoke and help identify the location of a fire.
The directorate said these functions contribute to faster response times and support rapid control of fire incidents.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense also urged the public to follow official safety guidelines.
In emergencies, residents in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region should call 911, while those in other regions of Saudi Arabia should call 998.
