Saudi Civil Defense Issues Thunderstorm and Flood Safety Warning

RIYADH, September 8 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Thunderstorms forecast across parts of Saudi Arabia from Wednesday through Monday could cause flooding, prompting the General Directorate of Civil Defense to urge residents to take precautions.
The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) expects moderate to heavy rain in Jazan, Aseer and Al-Baha, as well as Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat in Makkah Region. The forecast includes possible flooding, hail and downdrafts that could raise dust and sand.
Civil Defense urged the public to remain in safe places, avoid valleys and areas where floodwaters collect, and refrain from swimming in floodwaters. Residents should also follow instructions issued through media outlets and social media platforms, it said.
Lighter rainfall is expected elsewhere. The NCM forecast light to moderate rain in Madinah and Najran regions and in Makkah, Al-Kamil, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, Al-Lith and Al-Qunfudhah.
