JEDDAH, September 1 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman chaired a Cabinet session in Jeddah that welcomed new institutional steps under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and approved several international agreements and the designation of May 12 as Organ Donation Day.


The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the first meeting of the Strategic Political Defence Committee of the agreement between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan. The three countries agreed to take further steps toward establishing a General Secretariat headquartered in Saudi Arabia and activating joint cooperation mechanisms.


The measures are intended to strengthen coordination and integration, support effective deterrence and collective defence, and contribute to international security and regional efforts for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace.


Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s support for efforts to strengthen the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s role. It congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as OIC secretary-general and expressed appreciation for the work of former secretary-general Hissein Brahim Taha.


The Cabinet highlighted the accreditation of 21 healthy cities in Saudi Arabia by the World Health Organization and welcomed a United Nations World Restoration Flagships award received by the National Greening Program.


Among its decisions, the Cabinet approved an agreement with the Hellenic Republic exempting holders of diplomatic, special and service passports from visa requirements. It also authorized the preparation and signing of an agreement with Argentina on avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion and avoidance.


The Cabinet approved memorandums covering municipal and housing cooperation with Syria, disability care with Djibouti, and cooperation between the King Fahd National Library and the National Library of Poland. It also authorized discussions on a training and competency development memorandum between the Insurance Authority and the Guernsey Financial Services Commission.


The Cabinet designated May 12 of each year as Organ Donation Day.
