Saudi Cabinet Reviews King Salman Address, Yemen, Makkah Alliance Defense Outcomes

RIYADH, Oct 6 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh on Tuesday, where ministers reviewed the annual royal address of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, regional developments, Yemen and the outcomes of the Makkah Alliance for Defense emergency meeting.
At the outset of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on his meeting with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa, including discussions on bilateral relations, areas of cooperation and opportunities to expand ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria, as well as the latest regional developments, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Cabinet affirmed Saudi Arabia’s full support for Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government and the Yemeni people, with the aim of restoring the state and its institutions.
It said the Houthi militia had chosen military escalation instead of peace, deepening Yemen’s humanitarian and economic difficulties while continuing to threaten the region and maritime navigation in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the emergency meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defense, including solidarity among the three member countries and their unified position against attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.
The meeting included condemnation of attacks targeting Makkah, Madinah, civilian objects and civil and economic facilities.
Cabinet also highlighted the agreement to activate collective deterrence and immediately move toward practical implementation of mutual defense commitments, aimed at strengthening military readiness, integration and the ability to respond to such threats.
Ministers praised the annual royal address delivered by King Salman at the opening of the third year of the ninth session of the Shura Council.
The address covered the Kingdom’s enduring principles, key achievements under Saudi Vision 2030, developmental reforms, economic momentum and the foundations of Saudi foreign policy.
The Cabinet also expressed appreciation for the Shura Council’s role in supporting the Kingdom’s development, strengthening coordination with government entities and contributing to the legislative and regulatory framework.
It affirmed that citizens’ aspirations and national interests would remain central to the work, decisions and strategic direction of state institutions.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said after the session that the Cabinet viewed preliminary state budget estimates for the coming fiscal year as reflecting the strength and resilience of the Saudi economy in responding to global changes through proactive policies.
Those policies support national targets and continued spending on services and development and social priorities while maintaining fiscal sustainability.
The Cabinet also reviewed reports on international conferences hosted by Saudi Arabia and commended the Global CSR Forum, held under the patronage of King Salman.
It welcomed initiatives launched during the forum’s second edition aimed at strengthening partnerships with social and developmental impact and expanding sustainable institutional support.
The Cabinet also praised Saudi Arabia’s participation in World Teachers’ Day, observed annually on October 5, recognizing teachers’ role in educating students and preparing future generations.
The session approved an agreement between Saudi Arabia and Türkiye concerning renewable energy power plant projects.
It also authorized the minister of energy, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with the International Energy Forum on cooperation in the energy sector.
The minister of Islamic affairs, dawah and guidance, or a deputy, was authorized to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Ghana’s Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs on cooperation in Islamic affairs.
The Cabinet authorized the minister of environment, water and agriculture, or a deputy, to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Syria’s Ministry of Local Administration and Environment on environmental protection.
The attorney general, or a deputy, was authorized to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Saudi Public Prosecution and Albania’s General Prosecution Office concerning crimes within their respective areas of jurisdiction.
The Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in television between the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and the Public Television Company of the Republic of Armenia.
