Saudi Cabinet Condemns Attacks on Oil Facilities and Red Sea Shipping
JEDDAH, July 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, condemned attacks by Iranian-backed militias in Yemen and Iraq on oil facilities in Riyadh and the Eastern Region and on commercial vessels in the Red Sea, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Cabinet said Saudi Arabia would not tolerate any infringement on its security, interests and national assets, and would respond firmly to any hostile acts in line with international humanitarian law, customary rules and the principle of proportionality.
The Cabinet called on the Iraqi government to take all necessary measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for aggression.
It also expressed appreciation for the positions of countries and international organisations that condemned the attacks, which Saudi air defences intercepted.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman briefed the Cabinet on phone calls with Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, during which they discussed regional developments and efforts to enhance security and stability.
The Cabinet reviewed Saudi Arabia’s efforts, through dialogue and consultation with friendly countries, to de-escalate regional tensions, safeguard waterways in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, and support regional and international stability.
On the domestic front, the Cabinet addressed state affairs, including the enactment of the General Education Law, which aims to support sector development, governance, the quality of the educational environment and the role of the private and nonprofit sectors under Vision 2030.
The Cabinet also praised the Quality of Life Program for exceeding economic and developmental targets and supporting the culture, sports, entertainment and tourism sectors.
It also noted Saudi Arabia’s first-place regional ranking for the fourth consecutive year in the Government Electronic and Mobile Services Maturity Index issued by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.
The Cabinet approved several decisions, including a short-stay visa exemption agreement with Egypt for holders of diplomatic and special passports, a memorandum of understanding with Kuwait on science, technology and innovation, and a memorandum of understanding with Qatar on food security cooperation.
It also authorised talks on agricultural cooperation with Syria and approved the designation of 2027 as the Year of Water.
