Saudi, Australian energy ministers discuss climate cooperation ahead of COP31
JEDDAH, September 28, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz met Australian Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen in Jeddah to discuss climate cooperation ahead of COP31, SPA reported.
Their talks covered joint efforts linked to the November conference in Türkiye and the goals of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. The ministers discussed pursuing outcomes that take account of countries’ differing national circumstances.
The two sides also reviewed Saudi initiatives covering renewable energy, emissions management, reduction and removal, the Saudi Green Initiative and the circular carbon economy.
During his visit, Bowen toured the Shuaibah Solar Power Project, Historic Jeddah and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, where he was briefed on the university’s research and academic programmes.
