RIYADH, June 27 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its priority to support stability in Sudan, secure a ceasefire, and preserve the country’s territorial integrity and state institutions, stressing that the crisis requires a Sudanese-led political solution.
The position was presented by Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, during a UN Security Council session on Sudan.
Alwasil warned that the continued conflict, deteriorating security conditions, and failure to implement commitments made under the Jeddah Platform and relevant UN Security Council resolutions have deepened Sudan’s humanitarian crisis.
Saudi Arabia remains committed to ending the conflict, bringing Sudanese parties closer together, and supporting the resumption of political dialogue based on the Jeddah Declaration.
The Kingdom condemned the targeting of humanitarian aid convoys and crimes committed in the city of El-Fasher, expressing concern over the human and humanitarian losses caused by the continued fighting.
Saudi Arabia also rejected any measures that undermine Sudan’s unity or state institutions, while welcoming regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire.
The Kingdom reaffirmed its continued humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people.
