Riyadh, October 1, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced that Saudi Arabia will host the next session of the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) in 2029. The announcement was made during the ongoing session in Spain.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan welcomed the Kingdom’s selection, highlighting the strength of its partnership with UNESCO and reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing cultural development.
MONDIACULT serves as a global platform for dialogue on culture and the development of cultural policies. The first session was held in Mexico in 1982. Saudi Arabia played a key role in reviving the conference by supporting Mexico’s hosting of the 2022 edition and by chairing regional consultations for the Arab region.
Hosting MONDIACULT 2029 is expected to stimulate cultural innovation and creativity, while contributing to the shaping of global cultural policies. Officials said the selection reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader cultural efforts at national, regional, and international levels, including its leadership in convening the first-ever meeting of culture ministers during its G20 presidency in 2020 and introducing the cultural track into the G20 agenda.
