RIYADH, June 23 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding to advance the localization and production of veterinary vaccines in the Kingdom, as part of efforts to strengthen national capabilities in animal disease prevention.

The agreement was signed by the National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program, AniVax and Boehringer Ingelheim, a global company active in veterinary solutions and disease prevention.

Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Mansour Almushaiti witnessed the signing ceremony on Monday at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of ministry officials and representatives from the sector.

The memorandum aims to support the development of Saudi Arabia’s veterinary vaccine industry, expand local manufacturing opportunities and strengthen cooperation with international partners in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.

Areas of cooperation include establishing a national antigen bank covering local and regional strains, supporting research and development with the ministry and local partners, and studying the localization of additional vaccines identified as national priorities.

The partnership will also examine the inclusion of pre-pandemic vaccines and the antigen bank within the Kingdom’s strategic reserves, assess market demand for vaccines and support technical and training programs for Saudi professionals.

Additional cooperation will cover field trials, the exchange of epidemiological data, awareness campaigns and improved access to high-quality diagnostic tools, with the aim of strengthening disease prevention and control across the livestock sector.
