Saudi Arabia says UAE actions in Yemen threaten its national security, urges withdrawal within 24 hours

Riyadh, December 30, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia said actions taken by the United Arab Emirates in Yemen were a threat to the Kingdom’s national security and called on the UAE to comply with a Yemeni request for all its forces to leave Yemen within 24 hours, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing a foreign ministry statement.

The foreign ministry said it was disappointed by what it described as UAE pressure on forces of Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council to carry out military operations near the Kingdom’s southern border in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahara, calling the moves a threat to Saudi security and to Yemen’s stability and the wider region.

The ministry described the steps as highly dangerous and inconsistent with the principles on which the coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen was established, saying they did not serve the coalition’s stated objective of achieving security and stability for Yemen.

Saudi Arabia said any threat to its national security was a “red line” and that it would take all necessary steps and measures to confront and neutralise any such threat, according to SPA.

The statement said the Kingdom remained committed to Yemen’s security, stability and sovereignty and reaffirmed its support for the president of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.

It also described the Southern cause as a just issue with historical and social dimensions, saying it could only be addressed through dialogue as part of a comprehensive political solution involving all Yemeni parties, including the Southern Transitional Council.

The ministry referred to statements by Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and the coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen regarding the movement of ships carrying weapons and armoured vehicles from Al-Fujairah to Al-Mukalla without official approvals from the Coalition Joint Forces Command, SPA reported.

Saudi Arabia urged the UAE to halt any military or financial support to any party within Yemen and said it hoped wisdom and Gulf ties would prevail, while calling on the UAE to take steps to preserve bilateral relations, the statement said.
