Saudi Arabia, Russia mark 100 years of diplomatic ties with Moscow exhibition

RIYADH, April 28 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Russia’s Foreign Ministry, in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, held an exhibition of historical photographs in Moscow on Monday to mark 100 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia.

The event was attended by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and Saudi Ambassador to Russia Sami Al-Sadhan.

Al-Sadhan said the exhibition highlighted key milestones in relations between the two countries through a selection of historical photographs and documents, and described the centenary as an occasion to recall a diplomatic legacy shaped by initiatives, achievements and strategic partnership.

He added that Saudi Arabia and Russia were marking the centenary this year through events across economic, cultural, tourism and sports sectors.

Borisenko highlighted stronger air traffic between the two countries, noting that Russian flights to Saudi Arabia rose 42% in 2025, while Saudi flights to Russia increased by more than 35%.

He also said a mutual visa exemption agreement for Saudi and Russian citizens would take effect on May 11.

Diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Russia date back to February 1926.
