Saudi Arabia Records 15,288 Residency, Labor and Border Security Violations in One Week

RIYADH, June 21 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - Saudi Arabia recorded 15,288 violations of residency, labor and border security laws during inspection campaigns carried out across the Kingdom from June 11 to June 17, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Ministry of Interior said the violations included 7,864 residency violations, 4,576 border security violations and 2,848 labor law violations.
Border authorities apprehended 1,668 people attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally. Of those, 46% were Yemeni nationals, 53% were Ethiopian nationals and 1% were from other nationalities.
Authorities also arrested 54 people attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.
A total of 24 people were arrested for involvement in transporting, sheltering or employing violators.
The ministry said 23,587 expatriates, including 21,758 men and 1,829 women, are currently undergoing procedures to enforce regulations.
It added that 15,109 individuals detained for violating regulations were instructed to contact their countries’ embassies or consulates to obtain travel documents, while 1,979 were advised to complete travel arrangements and 10,458 were repatriated.
The Ministry of Interior warned that anyone who facilitates illegal entry into the Kingdom, transports violators within Saudi Arabia, provides shelter or offers any form of assistance may face penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR1 million.
Vehicles used for transport and properties used for shelter may also be confiscated.
The ministry said such acts are major crimes requiring arrest and urged the public to report violations by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Region, or 999 and 996 in other parts of the Kingdom.
