Saudi Arabia, Qatar Set for Khaleeji 27 Semi-Final in Jeddah

JEDDAH, Oct 2 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia will meet Qatar on Saturday at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah for a place in the Arabian Gulf Cup final, with both sides reaching the semi-finals without defeat, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The hosts arrive with the tournament’s strongest group-stage record after winning all three of their Group A matches. Saudi Arabia edged Kuwait 1-0 before beating Oman 3-0 and Iraq 2-0, finishing the opening round with nine points.
Saudi Arabia is also the only side yet to concede at Khaleeji 27, scoring six times across its three group matches.
Victory on Saturday would send the Saudi team into the Gulf Cup final for the 10th time. The kingdom is seeking its fourth title after previous triumphs in 1994, 2002 and 2003.
Qatar reached the last four after finishing second in Group B with seven points. It beat Bahrain 2-0 and Yemen 1-0 before drawing 1-1 with the United Arab Emirates.
The Qatari side scored four goals and conceded once during the group stage and is seeking a seventh appearance in the final. Qatar has won the tournament three times, in 1992, 2004 and 2014.
Saturday’s meeting brings together a Saudi side with three consecutive wins and a Qatar team that has yet to lose in the tournament.
