Saudi Arabia, Qatar Discuss Regional De-Escalation and Maritime Security in Riyadh

RIYADH, August 19 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani discussed regional de-escalation and maritime security in Riyadh on Wednesday.
The ministers reviewed developments across the region and diplomatic efforts intended to contain tensions and preserve regional security and stability.
They emphasized continued consultation and coordination between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, including efforts to align their positions on current regional developments.
Prince Faisal and Sheikh Mohammed affirmed their support for mediation efforts undertaken by Qatar and Pakistan to help settle disputes through diplomatic means.
The ministers also stressed the need for joint work to protect the security, safety and freedom of navigation of vessels using the region’s vital maritime corridors.
Their meeting at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters also covered bilateral relations, existing cooperation and ways to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Saudi Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji and Prince Dr. Abdullah bin Khalid bin Saud Al-Kabeer Al Saud, Director General of the General Department of Policy Planning, attended the meeting.
