Saudi Arabia Marks Flag Day on March 11

Riyadh, March 10, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Saudi Arabia will mark Flag Day on March 11, commemorating the anniversary of King Abdulaziz approving the final design of the national flag in 1937.

The occasion was formally designated in 2023 by a royal decree issued by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Saudi Arabia’s national flag has symbolized the state since its founding in 1727.

The flag’s green field represents growth and prosperity, while the Shahada reflects peace and the Islamic faith. The sword symbolizes justice and strength.

The Saudi flag holds a unique status globally, as it is never flown at half-mast, a provision established in the Kingdom’s Basic Law of Governance to preserve the sanctity of the declaration of faith inscribed on it.
