Saudi Arabia expels Iranian military attachés amid ongoing attacks

RIYADH, March 21, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Saudi Arabia has declared the Iranian military attaché and assistant attaché, along with three embassy staff members, persona non grata and ordered them to leave the Kingdom within 24 hours, the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

The decision comes amid continued Iranian attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and other Gulf and regional countries, the ministry said in a statement.

Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks as violations of international law, state sovereignty and diplomatic norms, citing the targeting of civilian infrastructure, economic assets and diplomatic premises.

The Kingdom said the continued escalation would have serious consequences for current and future relations.

Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed that it will take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, territory and economic interests, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
