Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, and U.S. Issue Joint Statement on Restoring Peace in Sudan

Riyadh, September 13, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States issued a joint statement on Saturday reaffirming their commitment to restoring peace and security in Sudan, following extensive consultations on the conflict.

The statement recalled that the war in Sudan has provoked the world’s worst humanitarian crisis and poses grave risks to regional stability. It outlined five key principles: safeguarding Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity; recognizing that no military solution is viable; ensuring safe humanitarian access; supporting an inclusive, civilian-led transition process; and ending external military support to warring parties.

The ministers called for a three-month humanitarian truce to allow aid to enter all parts of Sudan, with the goal of leading to a permanent ceasefire and a nine-month transition process toward an independent civilian government. They stressed that Sudan’s future governance must be determined by its people and not controlled by any warring party, rejecting extremist groups and destabilizing influences.

The four countries pledged to press all sides to protect civilians, ensure humanitarian aid delivery, and prevent external actors from fueling the conflict. They also highlighted the need to safeguard the Red Sea region, counter extremist threats, and deny space to destabilizing forces.

The statement expressed support for Saudi and U.S. mediation efforts through the Jeddah process, as well as Egypt’s engagement with Sudanese civil and political forces. The ministers agreed to continue consultations, including at the upcoming Quad ministerial meeting in September 2025.
