RIYADH, June 18 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) - The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye condemned continued and escalating settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
In a joint statement, the ministers condemned recent attacks on the Grand Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and Al-Farouq Mosque in the village of Mazar’a al-Nubani, north of Ramallah.
The ministers said the attacks constituted a violation of the sanctity of places of worship and religious sites, international law, including international humanitarian law, and relevant United Nations resolutions.
They rejected what they described as attacks by Israeli settlers, as well as continued illegal Israeli measures in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which they said fuel instability, violence and extremism and undermine international efforts to achieve peace.
The ministers held Israel, as the occupying power, responsible for the attacks.
They called on the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities and compel Israel to halt escalation in the occupied West Bank, end illegal practices, stop settler violence, hold perpetrators accountable and ensure they do not enjoy impunity.
The foreign ministers also reaffirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for their legitimate national rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They reaffirmed support for efforts to end the Israeli occupation and achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international law, relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
