RIYADH, Jan 29, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – SAMI Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC), a Saudi Arabian Military Industries company under the Public Investment Fund, announced a strategic collaboration with Lockheed Martin to open a new software factory in Riyadh, aimed at accelerating local development of advanced software solutions and supporting Saudi Arabia’s digital command-and-control ecosystem.

The software factory is designed as an end-to-end platform for development, rapid prototyping, integration, testing and deployment, with a focus on enabling Saudi teams to deliver mission-relevant software enhancements more quickly across diverse operational environments, while supporting structured knowledge transfer and disciplined engineering practices.

The initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to grow national technical capabilities and strengthen operational autonomy in critical digital domains.

Within the first two weeks of the collaboration, Saudi engineers and trainees from SAMI-AEC worked alongside Lockheed Martin teams to develop an operational capability integrating commercial aircraft location data into the operational common picture within Lockheed Martin’s CommandIQ system.

“We are proud to collaborate with Lockheed Martin in opening the software factory in Riyadh,” SAMI-AEC Chief Executive Ziad Al-Musallam said. “This initiative reflects our commitment to developing local capabilities in software and digital solutions and to building a robust environment where Saudi engineers can gain practical, high-impact technical expertise.”

The software factory supports SAMI-AEC’s longer-term focus on structured skills development and advancing a modern digital ecosystem within the kingdom.
