Riyadh, September 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) announced on Monday its approval of the use of a “Visitor ID” for opening bank accounts in the Kingdom, in accordance with banks’ account opening procedures.
According to a statement issued by SAMA, the “Visitor ID,” provided by the Ministry of Interior, is recognized as an official identification document for visitors to Saudi Arabia and can be verified through authorized digital platforms.
SAMA said the decision enables banks to extend services to new consumer segments, enhancing the visitor experience during their stay in the Kingdom.
The update forms part of SAMA’s periodic regulatory reviews to align with industry developments, facilitate banking procedures, promote financial inclusion, and support digital transformation initiatives in the financial sector.
