Rosatom Evacuates More Workers From Iran’s Bushehr Plant

Riyadh, March 25, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom said more workers were being evacuated from Iran’s Russian-built Bushehr nuclear power plant after another reported strike on the plant’s territory.

Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev said the company would reduce staffing at the site to a minimum until the situation stabilises, after announcing that another group of workers had left on Wednesday and that further evacuations were planned later this week, according to CNN.

Reuters had previously reported that Rosatom had already evacuated staff from Bushehr in recent weeks and that around 450 Russian employees remained at the site after earlier withdrawals.

Reuters also reported last week that a strike landed near the operating unit of the Bushehr plant and that Rosatom condemned the incident, while the Kremlin later described strikes near the facility as extremely dangerous.

Rosatom has warned that any serious damage to Bushehr could have grave regional consequences, and Reuters reported on March 19 that the company had called for a safety zone around the plant after a near-miss incident.
