Romania Approves U.S. Request to Expand Use of Air Bases for Middle East Operations

Bucharest, March 11, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Romania approved a request from the United States to increase the use of Romanian air bases to support military operations in the Middle East, the country’s top defense body said Wednesday.
The decision allows the United States to temporarily increase its troop presence and utilize facilities in Romania to support operations linked to the conflict involving Iran.
Nicușor Dan said the agreement will permit the temporary deployment of troops and military equipment, including assets used for aircraft refueling, satellite communications and monitoring systems.
Officials said the measures are intended to facilitate logistical and operational support for U.S. activities in the Middle East.
