Riyadh, September 15, 2025 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Red Sea Global announced on Monday the opening of the first resorts and attractions on Shura Island, which will begin welcoming guests in the coming weeks, marking a major milestone in the Kingdom’s efforts to diversify its economy under Saudi Vision 2030.

Shura Island, naturally shaped like a dolphin, serves as the centerpiece of the Red Sea destination. Its design is inspired by surrounding coral reefs, with architecture that integrates with the environment through lightweight, low-thermal-mass materials aimed at reducing environmental impact and boosting energy efficiency. The island, like the wider Red Sea project, is powered entirely by renewable energy.

Visitors will access the island by speedboat through its marinas or via electric vehicles crossing the 3.3-kilometer Shura Bridge, the longest internal bridge in Saudi Arabia. The island features turquoise lagoons, beaches, and new luxury hospitality facilities.

Red Sea Global CEO John Pagano said Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, will also open this September. He described it as a world-class course combining innovative design with sustainable practices, featuring panoramic views, water conservation techniques, and eco-friendly landscaping.

The Red Sea destination welcomed its first guests in 2023 and currently operates five resorts. The Red Sea International Airport continues to expand its operations, offering domestic and international flights within a three-hour radius for 250 million travelers.
