Quintero wins Dakar stage two as rally heads from Yanbu to AlUla

AlUla, January 6, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – The second stage of the Dakar Rally 2026 in Saudi Arabia continued on Monday, marking the Kingdom’s seventh consecutive hosting of the event, organised by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and overseen by the Ministry of Sport, according to a statement.


The stage ran from Yanbu to AlUla over 504 km, including 400 km of timed special stage.


American driver Seth Quintero, driving a Toyota Gazoo Racing W2RC, won the car category in 3 hours, 57 minutes and 16 seconds, the statement said.


His teammate, South African Henk Lategan, finished second 1 minute and 42 seconds behind, while Saudi driver Yazeed Al Rajhi, in an Overdrive Hilux, took third, 1 minute and 56 seconds off the lead.


In the overall car standings, Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah, in a Dacia Sandrider, retained first place with a total time of 7 hours, 12 minutes and 16 seconds, according to the statement.


Quintero was second overall, seven seconds behind, followed by Belgian driver Guillaume de Mévius of the X-raid team in third, 1 minute and 9 seconds back.


The third stage begins on Tuesday, January 6, with a loop course in AlUla Governorate covering 736 km, including 422 km of timed special stage, it added.
