Qatar condemns Iranian targeting of emirate, urges diplomatic solution

DOHA, April 7, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Qatar condemned Iran’s continued targeting of the emirate and other countries in the region and called for a diplomatic solution to end the war in the Middle East, according to a Qatari foreign ministry statement on Monday.

The statement said the remarks were made during a phone call between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Al Thani conveyed “Qatar’s condemnation of the ongoing Iranian targeting of Qatar and the countries of the region,” the ministry said.

He said the escalation toward countries that had distanced themselves from the war amounted to a reckless threat to regional security and showed disregard for its stability.

Al Thani also condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure and national assets by all parties, calling them unacceptable under any circumstances, and urged respect for international law and the protection of civilians.

“A comprehensive and lasting diplomatic solution remains the sole option for resolving the crisis,” he said, according to the statement.
