RIYADH, March 18, 2026 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Qatar on Wednesday accused Israel of carrying out an attack on an offshore natural gas field it shares with Iran.

The accusation was made by Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, following reports that the Iranian side of the South Pars gas field had come under attack and was burning.

Al-Ansari described the incident as “a dangerous and irresponsible step amid the current military escalation in the region.”

“Targeting energy infrastructure constitutes a threat to global energy security, as well as to the peoples of the region and its environment,” he said.

He called on all parties to avoid targeting critical facilities, adhere to international law and work toward de-escalation to preserve regional stability.

There was no immediate response from Israel.
