The mother of King Abdullah II of Jordan received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and attended events dedicated to nursing education and professional development.


Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein, mother of His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, visited Romania, where she was honoured for her longstanding commitment to healthcare, nursing and professional education.


During the visit, Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” in Bucharest, one of Romania’s leading medical education institutions.

The distinction recognised Princess Muna Al-Hussein’s contribution to the development of nursing, healthcare training and professional standards, fields with which Her Royal Highness has been closely associated for decades.


The visit also coincided with International Nurses’ Day, giving the occasion particular significance. Her Royal Highness attended the launch of a national project dedicated to specialisation programmes for nurses, highlighting the importance of continuous professional training in strengthening healthcare systems and improving patient care.

Princess Muna Al-Hussein’s presence at the event underlined the central role of nurses in modern medicine, as well as the importance of investing in education, skills and professional recognition for those working across the healthcare sector.

During her visit to Romania, Her Royal Highness Princess Muna Al-Hussein was also the guest of Her Majesty The Custodian of the Crown and His Royal Highness Prince Radu.


The visit reflected the strong cultural and humanitarian dimension of royal engagement, bringing together education, healthcare and institutional dialogue. It also highlighted the shared importance placed on nursing as a profession essential to public health, social care and human dignity.


For Princess Muna Al-Hussein, the Bucharest visit added another chapter to a public life closely connected to service, healthcare and the advancement of nursing education.
