Pakistan says it will soon host U.S.-Iran talks

ISLAMABAD, March 29 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) – Pakistan’s foreign minister said on Sunday that Islamabad will soon host talks between the United States and Iran.

“Pakistan is very happy that both Iran and the U.S. have expressed their confidence in Pakistan’s facilitation” of the talks, which will happen in the “coming days,” Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said in a televised speech after a meeting of top regional diplomats in Islamabad.

Dar did not say whether the talks would be direct or indirect. There was no immediate comment from the United States or Iran.

He said the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia had endorsed Pakistan’s peace efforts. The ministers are expected to meet again on Monday.

Pakistan has emerged as a mediator with relatively good ties to both Washington and Tehran. Pakistani officials have said the public effort follows weeks of quiet diplomacy.
