Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the latest strike on a Saudi oil facility, praised the Kingdom’s restraint, and briefed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Pakistan’s mediation efforts.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during which he reaffirmed Pakistan’s “unwavering solidarity” with the Kingdom, condemned the latest strike on a Saudi oil facility, and voiced support for ongoing efforts to calm regional tensions.
According to statements carried by Pakistani official and local media outlets, Sharif used the call to reiterate Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and to stress Islamabad’s continued support for the Kingdom during the current crisis.
Sharif also praised Saudi Arabia’s restraint, describing the Kingdom’s response as measured despite mounting regional pressure. He commended the “wisdom and sagacity” of the Saudi leadership and said that Riyadh’s approach had helped preserve space for diplomacy at a highly volatile moment.
The Pakistani prime minister further briefed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the latest developments in Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East. The Saudi crown prince, according to the accounts, welcomed Pakistan’s peace efforts and appreciated Islamabad’s engagement in support of de-escalation.
The call comes as Pakistan continues to present itself as an active intermediary in the crisis, with Reuters previously reporting that Islamabad has been involved in efforts to facilitate talks and prevent a wider regional conflict.
