MANAMA, May 25 (Saudi Arabia Breaking News) — Bahrain’s High Criminal Court sentenced nine people to life imprisonment in two espionage cases involving 11 defendants accused of spying for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The remaining defendants received three-year prison terms.
The defendants were convicted of providing information to the IRGC for use in terrorist and hostile acts against Bahrain and its national interests.
The cases were investigated after reports were received by the public prosecution. Detained suspects were questioned, seized electronic devices were examined by technical experts, and witness testimonies were heard.
Investigators concluded that the defendants had supplied the IRGC with data and information intended to support hostile and terrorist operations targeting vital facilities in Bahrain.
The public prosecution referred the defendants to the High Criminal Court after completing the investigation.
The cases were reviewed over several sessions, with defence lawyers present and legal guarantees provided before the verdicts were issued.
