DUBLIN, August 21, Saudi Arabia Breaking News — Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his family have acquired a historic 19th-century castle in southeast Ireland, adding a landmark property near the country where the technology giant maintains its European headquarters.

Zuckerberg has purchased Strancally Castle in County Waterford, a Gothic Revival residence overlooking the River Blackwater, his spokesman confirmed Thursday.

The castle was built around 1830 and has undergone extensive restoration, including major renovation work carried out over the past two decades.

The exact purchase price has not been disclosed, and the transaction has yet to appear on Ireland’s official Property Price Register.

However, The Irish Times, which first reported the acquisition, estimated that the estate could be valued at between €20 million and €30 million.

Zuckerberg’s spokesman said the Meta chief and his family were looking forward to spending time in Ireland and continuing to care for the historic property.

The purchase was completed through an off-market transaction, according to The Irish Times, which reported that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, acquired the estate several weeks ago.

The couple are expected to continue living primarily in the United States and use Strancally Castle during visits to Ireland.

The property is located roughly 200 kilometers from Meta’s European headquarters in Dublin.

Ireland has played a major role in Meta’s international operations for years, serving as the European base for the company behind Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Meta currently employs around 1,500 people in Ireland, where a number of major US technology companies maintain significant European operations.

Strancally Castle sits along the River Blackwater in County Waterford and is one of the region’s distinctive historic estates.

Its acquisition gives Zuckerberg and his family a substantial private base in Ireland while adding another high-profile international owner to the country’s market for historic country estates.

While speculation around the property's value has placed it in the €20 million to €30 million range, no official sale price has been made public.
